Seven installation priorities that help liquid-applied waterproofing systems reach their full service life.
Liquid membranes can protect roofs, basements, car parks, industrial facilities and infrastructure with a seamless, fully bonded waterproof layer. Their long-term performance, however, depends heavily on professional installation.
Start with thorough substrate preparation. Remove dust, weak material and previous treatments that could reduce adhesion, and confirm that residual moisture is within the product's limits. Use the recommended primer or bonding slurry to create a uniform surface and reduce the risk of bubbles, blistering and debonding.
Choose a membrane with suitable crack-bridging ability and reinforce details such as corners, penetrations, drains and changes in level. Apply the specified amount of material in consistent coats, allowing the required curing time between stages.
Finally, protect the completed membrane from damage and inspect the application before covering or returning the area to service. Careful detailing and quality control are what turn liquid technology into a durable waterproofing system.
